Import validation error – The number of fields specified in the import does not match the number of fields in the import file.
Importing records in the Raiser’s Edge requires all files to be text files and most common file type is .csv. You can save any Excel file as .csv and doing that makes sure you only have one tab of data within that file. As you open .csv files occasionally the Import process may recognize additional columns of data that don’t exist. To remedy this, open the .csv file you are trying to import, highlight just the rows and columns you intend to import then copy and paste them into a New Excel sheet and save that sheet as a .csv (Comma Delimited) file. Then use that new file in Raiser’s Edge Database View / Admin / Import and import should not have the blank rows on the bottom of the fields tab which are causing the error. I highlighted in blue in the image below the additional rows (actually columns in our data file) that the import is reading incorrectly.
